I had finally gotten a Saturday to myself. I worried and worried over the King situation until I made myself sick thinking about all the ramifications of my decisions.

To stop the cycle, I went to get my hair fixed, a mani & pedi, and texted my favorite massage parlor who gave me the best massages of my life and specialized in waxing. By the time I arrived home, I was ready for a warm soak and some wine.

But, before I could do that, I took a deep breath and retrieved my cellphone. Regardless of what the outcome was going to be between me and King, I knew I didn’t have a choice. I was going to take this opportunity and hope like hell it didn’t go up in flames.

Me: Can you come over

He didn’t immediately respond to my text, so I went into my room and ran some bath water. What would I do if he didn’t respond? It had been a few days since we had our conversation, and I had gone cold. Maybe, he didn’t think I was serious.

I glanced down anxiously when my phone beeped.

King: When?

Me: Tonight?

King: What time?

I glanced down at the time on my phone. How much time did I need?

Me: Are two hours good?

King: Yes

I sat in my bath for thirty minutes contemplating what I was about to do. I was going to give us a chance. Hopefully, he agreed with me when I told him I wanted to keep us a secret. I knew how social media could be so damn messy. I was not trying to be caught up in some bullshit. I had already peeked into Shay’s page to see if she had mentioned anything about receiving divorce papers.

Her page was unusually quiet in regards to King. She posted stomach pics. I grudgingly admitted she looked cute pregnant. She was all stomach, and she still wore clothes that made her look sexy.

She was even starting to post baby products on a page that businesses had started sending her. All of her followers raved about how beautiful her and King’s baby was going to be. If only they knew the lies, she was perpetrating.

I shook my head thinking about Nina’s words. I needed to be prepared to accept a baby from King.

She would be in King’s world for a minimum of eighteen years. That was going to be a long ass time.

I left my tub and finished off with a shower knowing I was about to embark on something that was going to change this fake ass friendship pretty fast.

I moisturized my legs and paid special attention to my feet. If I ever missed a spot, they would look like I was playing in flower. Tonight, that was not an option.

I chose to wear some leggings and King’s jersey. It was cheesy, but I hoped he read into what I wanted him to see.

I sprayed some perfume and left my room. I turned on some old-school R&B and sat waiting patiently for him to arrive.
